8 Baking and Decorating Tools I Could Not Live Without.

“God Gives Us The Ingredients For Our Daily Bread, But He Expects Us To Do The Baking”

Chip Ingram

My goodness, what a huge question yto have been asked the other day.

“What are the 3 Baking Tools I can’t live without?”

3? really? only  😁. lol as a baker for over 10 years I had to admit to myself, I love ALL my tools I either got way back then from my mom or bought over the years, so only when I was ask to give only 3 it was a challenge and I had to dig deep, so I ended up with 8!!

There’s my oven, but then I remember I actually did a youtube video showing how you can bake without an oven…lol so I guess I had to think a little out side of the box….and then I remember.

1. Cake Tester.

This little tool has saved me from under baking my cakes so many times I have lost count!

And best part is, you can use so many different things for this tool’s use.

A toothpick is most common in every household, a wooden skewer or even a steel barbecue stick, I remember my mom even just using a knife.

2. Parchment or Baking Paper.

Now let’s be honest, getting a cake released from a cake tin’s side, easy, just use a knife….but when it comes to the bottom, oh my word, be honest, how many times have cake stick to that stubborn bottom, especially your older tins .

So with out any doubt, I would not be able to bake without my parchment paper!

They are found in baking stores and grocery stores, some will just read baking paper, but don’t get confused with wax paper now, those ones are for the husband’s bread samies he takes to work.

3. Turntable.

Now to a Tool I found was an amazing help when I started to decorate cakes in a bit more professional way and for when I baked for clients. My Turntables, yes I have more than One…

This was not just a game changer for me but also a learning process as their is a lot on the market. My advice is to consider how much you will be baking, but avoiding the pvc range that is a loose fit when placed onto each other. Come to think of it, if the turntable is not permanently fitted to the stand. Try to avoid. If you are not baking for clients, you can invest in the the more expensive ones. I love my recently bought glass one.

4. Cake Scraper

ooooh If this tool wasn’t Your guess would be on my favorite List then you don’t watch my Instagram lol, ever since I used my first I just had to create a collection of my own!

I use this to smooth out my cakes and get an even layer of frosting all around. Not all Scrapers are equal. There are many on the market but I loved how light the acrylic ones felt and also that I could use both side.

I wanted some tall, some smaller and some textured ones too as I loved how easy they became to use and with such a beautiful finish they just needed to be in my collection.

I definitely would recommend investing in a spatula set too when you use these, oh they help so much. My sets will be released Desember 2023. I am so exited. Just like any other tool, scrapers are also personal preference and practicing with some just makes it so much easier to identify which one works best for you.

5. Acrylic Disk

Yes this one changed my world too. It absolutely gave me the edge I wanted on my cakes and a thickness of frosting around the cakes that just made me felt they looked so professional when I was done using them.

6. Kitchen Scale

These babies have become so important, especially when you bake other bakers recipes, not all of them are written in cups or teaspoons, I actually love a recipe written in grams as I can be sure I get the exact amount needed. So this is on the list too.

7. Stand Mixer.

Now I know, this is way expensive tool to list but even tho you can bake with a hand mixer, standing ones saves so much time, especially when you have to mix sugar and eggs, or save time when mixing up buttercream really fluffy.

There are so many on the market and you can use any brand you love. My favorite is a Kenwood.

8. Cake Spatulas.

These are some of the first tools I ever bought, I made sure I had a long one for my sides and a short one for the top part and smaller cakes.

As I mentioned before I will be bringing out my own collection of these and will be sure to mention it right here on my blog or Instagram.

So make sure you follow my journey with me and you will be one of the first to know when it is available

So as you can see, I have so many I love and they all are so helpful in my world of baking.

I hope these 8 give you some goals to save for and invest in as they are priceless to me personally.

Thank you for taking a look at what tools I love. What are yours. Please let me know in the comments so we can help each other out too.
